About Me
I’m happiest when hiking in mountains, exploring deserts or watching sunsets from beaches with my wife, Mary Ellen and daughter, Maisy Lou. Experiencing live music is another passion, and we go to as many shows as possible. I’m also an avid trail runner, disc golfer and ultimate frisbee player.

The world needs more individuals, institutions and systems that are focused on human liberation, and schools like TSAS hold the greatest promise of laying the foundation of a just and humane planet. Introduction to Ethics: Living the Good Life
In “Living the Good Life: An Introduction to Ethics,” students will be asked to consider what it means to live a “good” life, as defined by a variety of both secular and spiritual moral/ethical frameworks. In doing so, we will consider what we mean when describing people and behaviors as “good” or “bad” and apply ethical thinking to modern moral problems.
US History
Starting in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, the class will study how the country rebuilds and continue through the ensuing decades, studying key figures, events, and eras of thought. The class will track the experiment of the United States and how through each era there has been a continual redefining of what “freedom” means and to whom it applies, what our Constitution guarantees, and how the country balances between different ideologies, beliefs, and geographies.
