Emergency Operations Plan
TSAS maintains a written multi-hazard Emergency Operations Plan covering natural and man-made emergencies, in accordance with 63 O.S. § 681 and 70 O.S. §§ 5-148 and 5-149. The plan defines staff and student response for the school’s threat levels — Lock-Out / Modified Lockdown, Lockdown, Intruder on Campus, and Active Shooter — and is reviewed annually. Detailed response procedures and staff training for these situations are maintained in the Faculty Handbook and the internal operations plan.
Panic Alert System (Alyssa’s Law)
In compliance with Alyssa’s Law, TSAS uses the RAVE Panic Button mobile application as its panic alert system. The system provides floor plans, caller location, and real-time updates to first responders, and automatically alerts designated school personnel. Faculty and staff receive annual training on its use.
Safety Drills
TSAS conducts multi-hazard safety drills each year — including fire, tornado, and lockdown/security drills — meeting or exceeding the minimums in 70 O.S. § 5-149. Each drill is documented by site and filed with the school and the Oklahoma School Security Institute.
Safe School Committee
TSAS maintains a Safe School Committee, chaired by a designated administrator, that reviews school safety, security, and emergency preparedness and meets during the school year.
Building Security
Exterior doors are kept locked at all times. Anyone not employed by TSAS must display a TSAS staff badge or a visitor’s badge and check in through the front office. Building security cameras are monitored by school administration. Doors are not to be propped or held open.
Emergency Communication
During a security or safety incident, TSAS prioritizes first the safety of students and staff, and second the timely, accurate communication of relevant information to the TSAS community, and reviews each incident afterward for improvement.
