Overview
The Senior Capstone is the culminating component of the TSAS HOUSES curriculum and graduation plan.
It is designed to be a bridge between each student’s high school learning and their plans after high school: college, vocational or applied training, work, or other real-world endeavors.
The Capstone will be unique to each senior and carefully designed to be meaningful and relevant. Each senior works with a faculty Capstone Advisor to support their progress and success.
Each Capstone Has Three Components
- Capstone Experience β A year-long individualized learning opportunity beyond the traditional classroom that connects to each student’s unique interests and their future.
- Concurrent enrollment at TCC or Tulsa Tech
- Internship, work study, or service work
- Visual or performing arts portfolio or performance creation (includes work as a student aide)
- Capstone Project β Each senior collects highlights of their learning from their year-long experience and creates a unique project that presents a focused part of their learning or personal development.
- Capstone Showcase β Each senior prepares a public presentation of their capstone project for a Senior Capstone Showcase event. Successful presentation formats have included:
- TED Talkβstyle video
- Poster session (“science fair model”) with student presentation
- Constructed experiment or object with supporting materials
- Art show of visual works or artist talk
- Performance of performing pieces
- Created and edited film or music production
- Others by design and approval
