Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences maintains a drug-, alcohol-, tobacco-, and vapor-free campus, consistent with the 24/7 Tobacco-Free Schools Act (70 O.S. § 1210.212 et seq.). Violations of school rules will result in parent conference, suspension and/or law enforcement involvement, depending on the seriousness and frequency of the violation(s). The jurisdiction of the school with respect to TSAS Policies applies to the school grounds (including the parking lot and vehicles on school property), before, during, or after school hours, as well as other venues used for a school sponsored activity, function, or event. This includes vehicles transporting students to or from school or school activities.
For purposes of this policy, a tobacco product includes cigarettes, cigars, cheroots, stogies, bidis, pipe and other smoking tobacco, chewing tobacco, snuff, and any other smokeless tobacco. A vapor product includes e-cigarettes, vape pens, e-cigars, e-cigarillos, e-pipes, e-hookahs, and any cartridge, pod, liquid, or device (with or without nicotine) used to produce a vapor.
Prohibited Conduct
- Possessing, using, distributing, or being under the influence of any narcotic drug, hallucinogenic drug, amphetamine, barbiturate, marijuana, alcoholic beverage, or intoxicant of any kind. Reasonable suspicion by a teacher or other staff member may result in search and seizure according to and in compliance with the law.
- Smoking, vaping, using, or possessing any tobacco product or vapor product. Consistent with the 24/7 Tobacco-Free Schools Act, this prohibition applies at all times, including at any school-sponsored or school-sanctioned event.
- Possessing, using, or transmitting any substance which looks like a controlled substance.
- Possessing or transmitting drug or alcohol-related paraphernalia (e.g., rolling papers, clips, bongs, razors, sniffing spoons, lighters, vape pens or pods, syringes, needles, shot glasses, flasks, or any other item that could be used to ingest or inhale illegal substances).
